Terms of Use

These terms
Hoozat is provided by [PROVIDER]. By using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the app.
We may change these terms — to reflect a change in the law, in the app, or in the services it relies on. The date at the top says when they were last changed, and continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new terms.
Accuracy of results
Hoozat uses automated face recognition provided by a third-party service to suggest who appears in a photo. Results are suggestions, not confirmations of identity, and may be incomplete or wrong. Not every face will be recognised, and the service only recognises well-known people in its database.
Accuracy depends on factors including lighting, camera angle, image quality, how much of the face is visible, and whether the image is a photo of a screen. Independent research has found that face recognition technology can be less accurate for some groups of people, including people with darker skin tones and some ethnic backgrounds. We work to reduce these differences, but we cannot guarantee equal accuracy for everyone.
Don't rely on Hoozat to identify anyone for any purpose where a mistake could cause harm, and don't use it to identify private individuals.
Profile information comes from TheTVDB, Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons and may contain errors.
How you may use Hoozat
Hoozat is for personal, non-commercial use: pointing your camera at an actor on a screen, or choosing a photograph from your library, to find out who they are.
You must not use Hoozat to identify, track, monitor or build a record of any private individual, whether or not they are in front of you. You must not use it for surveillance, for security screening, for vetting, for law enforcement, or to make any decision about a person — including any decision about their employment, credit, housing, insurance, education or access to a service. These are not uses the app is built for and its results are not reliable enough for any of them.
You must not scan a photograph you have no right to use, and you must not use the app in a way that breaks any law that applies to you — including the law on data protection, privacy and biometrics where you are.
You must not copy, scrape or systematically extract the data the app shows, use the app or its API by any automated means, resell access to it, or attempt to reverse engineer, decompile or interfere with it or with the services behind it.
Photographs you scan
To answer a scan, the app sends one still image to our service, which passes it to our recognition provider and then discards it. We do not store it and we do not log it. The Privacy Policy explains this in full.
You keep whatever rights you have in your own photographs. By scanning one you give us permission to process it for the single purpose of answering that scan, and nothing else — we do not use your photographs to train, improve or build anything.
Information from other sources
Profiles, credits, biographies and photographs come from TheTVDB, Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, and the colours the app draws title cards in come from a separate colour service. Each source's own credit and licence are shown on the Sources screen, reached from the bottom of a profile.
We do not control that material, we do not warrant that it is accurate or complete, and the terms and licences of those sources apply to it. Where a photograph is licensed under a Creative Commons licence, that licence governs what you may do with it — the Sources screen links to it.
Subscriptions
If the app offers a subscription and you buy one, Apple takes the payment and manages the subscription. It renews automatically at the price and interval shown at the time of purchase until you cancel it, and it is charged to your Apple Account. You can see, change or cancel it at any time in Settings, or by tapping Manage Subscriptions in the app — cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.
Payments are handled by Apple under Apple's own terms, and refunds are Apple's to give. We never see your card details.
Availability
We try to keep Hoozat working but we do not promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of faults. It depends on services we do not run, and any of them can change, limit or withdraw what they provide. We may change the app, limit how much it can be used, or stop offering it.
Our rights in the app
The app itself — its code, its design, its name and its logo — belongs to [PROVIDER] or to whoever licensed it to us, and nothing in these terms gives you any right in it beyond permission to use the app.
Our responsibility to you
Hoozat is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we give no warranty that its results are accurate or that it will meet your needs, and we are not responsible for any loss you suffer by relying on a result, by relying on information from the sources named above, or by using the app for anything these terms say not to use it for.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. Nothing in them affects your legal rights as a consumer.
Law and contact
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction — except that if you live elsewhere you keep the benefit of any protection your own local law gives you.
If you have a question about these terms, write to [CONTACT_EMAIL].
